About Roland "GoodBynum"
Roland Bynum has spent the last thirty plus years dedicating himself as a teacher, mentor, and coach in the San Gabriel Valley. Mr. Bynum recently retired from the Pasadena Unified School District where he taught at John Muir high school for seventeen years, and was the lead teacher for the Arts Academy, and the English department. He was selected as the teacher of the year in 2002, and again as the Altadena NAACP “Muir, Teacher of the Year, 2008.” Mr. Bynum has three Master degrees, one in Telecommunication, Administration Leadership, and Counseling. He is a founding member of PAAASE; Pasadena African-American Association of School Employees, which dedicates itself to the success of African-American students. Mr. Bynum was also the voice of John Muir, announcing both football and basketball games. In addition he has been the voice of the Pasadena Black History Parade for more than twenty plus years.

Mr. Bynum has received more than two hundred community awards for his ongoing commitment to the greater Los Angeles, and San Gabriel community. He is also an “AmeriCorps Fellow,” dedicating two years to his community, mentoring youth, fighting poverty, and for the betterment of academic excellence, for all students.

One of America’s top radio personalities this is his 59th year in the telecommunication industry, where he has been a radio personality at 102.3 Radio Free KJLH for more than twenty Five years, heard every Saturday morning from 5-9 am. His program, “The Sound Track of Your Life” is a potpourri of great soul classics, geared to educating his listeners, and he uses his teaching gifts to bring much needed information to his audience. Mr. Bynum was voted as one of America's top radio personalities, also a Billboard Magazine Radio Program Director of the year (1974). He is The nephew of Smokey Robinson which puts him close to the Motown Family.

He is very active, who loves playing basketball, and he is a two time National three on three over 70’s Senior Olympics champion. A lifelong learner, Mr. Bynum is presently enrolled at The Los Angeles Bible Training
school, pursuing his Diploma in Theological Studies. He is the father of thirteen beautiful children, and he has just completed his first book entitled “Godshots” a self-published autobiography.
